| My Story-Michael BettsIt took me some years to finally get a diagnosis of my neurological disease. I knew something was seriously wrong as symptoms steadily developed materially effecting my daily life. I was told I had an age related neurological deficit. All very fuzzy. Finally in desperation I contacted a Professor at a teaching hospital in Sydney sending him an outline of my problems. This was late 2007. In due course I got to see a consulting neurologist who arranged a battery of tests and I was diagnosed with SCA and peripheral neuropathy. My experience emphasises the need to get first class specialist treatment. Jane the community simply could not function without the dedication of folk like you. I express my deep appreciation for all your efforts. I have a favourite hymn and I hope you don't mind me sharing with you two of my favourite versus. We are pilgrims on a journey, I will weep when you are weeping © Spinocerebellar Ataxia Australia Inc |
